!!!!LET THE FUN BEGIN!!!!

The Rockit Scientists put on a fun, family oriented good time rock n’ roll event.

Since 1995, the band has entertained audiences as large as 20,000 at city concerts in Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, Ventura, Riverside and San Bernardino counties at venues, such as, Edison Field (Anaheim Stadium), the Orange County Fair, the Laguna Beach Sawdust Festival, the San Diego Fair and the Orange International Fair.  The shows have been broadcast on numerous local cable networks and even imitated by other groups.  The performance appeals to all ages.  This is not a haphazard play list of oldies but goodies.  The Rockit Scientists take the audiences on a scripted, guided tour of the music that defined the Baby Boomer Generation sharing the fun, enthusiasm, energy and hope of music from the 1950’s and 60’s with plenty of historical antidotes and even personal testimonials.  The Rockit Scientists are punctual, dress appropriately, perform a proven selection of music, interact with the audience, use responsible volume, are polite and courteous to guests, carry no bad habits and support the event coordinator and staff to assure the occasion will be remembered with fond memories by all.  Members of the group in alphabetical order are:

Derek Davis- Vocalist, Guitar

After studying piano in 1960, Derek switched to guitar in 1964.  Following graduation from the University of California with a minor in Music in 1973, he become a member of Dick Dale and the Deltones performing in Las Vegas, Lake Tahoe, Hawaii and throughout the Southwestern United States.  He toured the United States with his own group, The Perfect Day.  During the 1980’s, The Derek Davis Group entertained at corporate events throughout Los Angeles, Orange and San Diego counties.  Derek lives with his family in Newport Beach.

Tony Samara- Vocalist, Keyboards, Guitar

Raised in a creative, musical family, Tony began playing professionally at the age of sixteen.  Tony is an international entertainer having delighted audiences at The Intercontinental Hotel-Bombay, The Oberon Hotel-Sri Lanka, The Four Seasons-Vancouver, The Intercontinental Kaanapali Beach Hotel and Maui Surf on Maui, as well as engagements in Toronto, Chicago, Atlanta, North Carolina, San Jose and Los Angeles.  Tony resides with his family in Anaheim.

Charlie See- Vocalist, Bass Guitar

Charlie’s first musical interest started in 1962 with the trumpet and transferred to the bass in 1968. He performed in various nightclubs in the Orange County area. Since 1986, Charlie has been the Entertainment Chairman for the Orange International Fair, which annually draws hundreds of thousands of visitors.  He has used his impressive musical and performing skills to entertain veterans at the VA Hospital and at various children’s organizations.  Charlie lives with his wife and children in the City of Orange.

Steve Trivoli- Vocalist, Drums

Steve has been a percussionist, guitarist and singer for over thirty-five years.  During his musical career, he has played all styles of commercial music throughout Southern California, Japan and Alaska.  He was selected from 5,000 applicants to be a member of Beatlemania.  Steve pursued a music degree at Cerritos College and was a member of the hugely popular Orange County bands, Emperor and Knocker.  Presently, he resides with his family in Garden Grove.

Greg Walker- Vocalist, Keyboards, Guitar; Rockit Emeritus

In case you are wondering, Greg, one of the founders of the Rockit Scientists and musical corroborator with Derek since 1967, decided to retire.  He put his instruments on E-bay, sold his Corvette, kissed his girl friend goodbye, sold his house, sold his practice and moved to Argentina to study Tango (seriously, we couldn’t make this up!).   Greg has proved that Baby Boomers are forever young.  After hundreds of shows and hundreds of thousands of guests, we all wish him well…Rockit On!

The Rockit Scientists are a fantastic group.  Their style is appealing and their sound is awesome.
Ms. Paula D. Harcos, 2007

Our 50th Year High School Class Reunion was the best ever- and we should know- as we have had a reunion every five years since our graduation day in June of 1957.  Having your musical group play at our last three reunions should tell you that you have been a major part of our success.  Thanks again for helping make our event the success it was.
Mr. Ernest A. Vargas, Esq. Franklin High School, 50th Reunion Chairman, 2007

…this fall, I was in charge of putting on a large fundraising event at the Mission San Juan Capistrano.  What a delight it was working with the Rockit Scientists!  They are the consummate professionals! …The dance floor was not big enough to accommodate all the dancers.  …If anyone came to me and asked who I would suggest as the best band around, for dancing and for the ease of working with, I would point only to one: the Rockit Scientists.  They are simply outstanding.
Ms. Laura Freese, Chairman of the 11th Annual SJC Chamber of Commerce Vintage, 2007

I wanted to thank you for doing such an awesome job performing at The Town of Apple Valley’s Summer Sunset Concert Series.  The crowd lover the high energy and enthusiasm you provided while performing.  …You all were professional and organized before, during and after your performance.  Again, thank you for helping make this event a success.
Ms. Julie Gilmer, Event Coordinator, City of Apple Valley, 2007

On behalf of the entire Community Services Department and the City of Laguna Hills, I would like to thank the Rockit Scientists for once again providing the entertainment for our annual 4th of July Celebration.  Your level of professionalism is second to none, making a very busy day worry free for the staff.
Mr. Dan Meehan, Community Services Supervisor, City of Laguna Hills, 2007

On behalf of the Placentia Cultural Arts Commission and all those in attendance at the Concert in the Park held on July 19th at Tri City Park, we would like to express our sincere thanks for you performance at the event.  …Thank you again for a fantastic performance.
Mr. Felipe Zambrano, Community Services Coordinator, City of Placentia, 2007

Each time they appeared, they seemed to be even more compelling and rockin’…if possible...than the previous time.  In fact, during the last concert, our happy seniors pounded on the table and cried repeatedly for encores.  They were enjoying themselves and the music THAT much.  Of course, Derek Davis and the band accommodated their request.  I say ‘of course’ because Mr. Davis has proven himself to be an easy-going, flexible professional throughout the hiring and showing-up process.
Mr. Kristen Farson, Activities Director, La Mirada Landmark, 2007

“Your sound and musical repertoire created a wonderful atmosphere during our event.  Your professionalism and musicianship were outstanding.  We certainly recommend your band to anyone in need of fine music for future events.”
Max Hernandez, Special Events Coordinator, Crystal Cathedral, July 2005

“The Rockit Scientists bring a polished and professional show to the Rendezvous.  You understand that the audience is here to listen to groovy cruisin’ music and you do not disappoint!” (2005)  “The Rockit Scientists presented a show that exceeded our expectations.”(2004)
JoAnn Webb, Special Events Coordinator, San Bernardino Convention & Visitors Bureau, Stater Bros Route 66 Rendezvous Presented by Firestone, October 2004 and 2005

"Just a quick not to say "Thank You" to the Rockit Scientists for another fantastic performance…I received so many positive comments after last year’s performance it was a pleasure to ask the Rockit Scientists to return for this year’s event."
Gail Zigler, Administrative Assistant, City of Temecula, July 2004

“We were very pleased with the way you involved the audience in your show.  The crowd loved you!  We received many comments the evening of your concert as well as over the next few days about how terrific your performance was”.
Gail Silva, Community Services Manager, City of Los Alamitos, August 2003.

“Wow!  Super!  What a great concert!!!  It was a pleasure to have the Rockit Scientists join us for our 2003 Summer Concert-In-The-Park program.”
Lynn Haskell, Recreation Supervisor, City of El Segundo, August 2003.

“It is without reservation that I whole-heartedly recommend the Rockit Scientists as an entertainer for any community or family event…They came prepared and were dressed for the part.  The concert was received well by the concert attendees in Diamond Bar… (the band) was a delight to work with and conducted themselves in a very professional manner at all times.”
Sara West, Recreation Supervisor, City of Diamond Bar, July 2003

"Your Concert was a perfect trip down memory lane for many of the baby boomers in the audience...the "Rockit Scientists" came to town with a rock-n-roll concert that will be remembered for years to come",
Kevin Evans, Recreation Manager, City of Dana Point, August 2001.

"As you know, everyone regardless of age, danced the night away to all the great oldies, classic rock, and contemporary sounds the band played…we would not hesitate to recommend the ROCKIT SCIENTISTS to anyone that wants to have a fun band that plays everyone’s favorite hits",
Sergeant Major John Whitaker, Vice Commander AMVETS Post 1944, November 2001.

"I compliment you and your band on your music, you’re appearance and your personable personalities."
Bonnie Glick, Walnut Valley Unified School District, June 2004

"This years’ series attracted more than 2,000 participants…throughout the evening and after the concert, I had many individuals approach me and express how much they enjoyed your music and hoped that your band would be back in the future."
Maricella Moreno, Recreation Supervisor, City of San Juan Capistrano, September 2004

"Your performance was very entertaining, and many of the attendees still talk about the fun they had. Please feel free to use me as a reference should you need a recommendation in the future",
David DeLeon, Recreation Manger, City of La Habra, August 2000.
